Maine Conservation Corps is dedicated to conservation projects, volunteers, education, and leadership skills. MCC engages teams in challenging, high quality trail projects.
Projects range from community projects to remote sites on the Appalachian Trail – where teams learn traditional stone working skills while rebuilding portions of America’s premier long distance hiking trail through the Wilderness of Maine.
Training topics include: Trail skills - Rigging, stone and timber construction * Wilderness First Aid * Crew Management * Instruction and experience with Leadership * Chainsaw Certification
Responsibilities: Lead and teach trail construction and other projects * Provide leadership and training to corps members and volunteers * Submit reports * Coordinate food, equipment, and transportation for a team of 6 people * Camp in tents along with team members during service sessions.
Qualifications: One season of trail work experience with one season in an outdoor leadership role * Ability to teach trail skills * Previous experience with construction work * Must be in good health and physically fit * Position requires a sense of humor and the ability to maintain a safe and enjoyable service environment * Must be at least 20 years old * Must be a US Citizen * Must be able to motivate and work with people of all ages and backgrounds * Women and Minorities are encouraged to apply
